ABOUT DR. TA'JANETTE SCONYERS

Ta’janette Sconyers, Ph.D. has been inspired by her ancestors, mentors, family, and friends to live her life with intention and purpose...and to inspire others to do the same. She is a Black woman who has assumed many roles throughout her career including: adjunct professor, consultant, researcher, speaker, therapist, and more. She uses her background, varied experiences, and training to assist her clients in whatever ways she can.

Diversity & Inclusion

Dr. Sconyers is passionate about diversity and inclusion, college entrance/persistence, as well as career/vocational satisfaction. She has participated in diversity, inclusion, and career development work in some capacity for over 10 years. Most recently, Dr. Sconyers was a manager of diversity and inclusion for a large law firm. She has also taught courses including Career Explorations and a Experiencing Cultural Diversity in the U.S. Dr. Sconyers also co-created a college diversity and inclusion initiative where she led the day-to-day operations and provided trainings and consultation for faculty, staff, and students.

Dr. Sconyers offers customized diversity and inclusion programs for individuals, groups, and organizations on topics including but not limited to: bias, race, social class, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability status, religion, and more. Additionally, she reviews resumes and provides college entrance essay support.


Psychological Work

Dr. Sconyers is licensed as a Psychologist in Missouri. She specializes in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Anxiety-Related Disorders including but not limited to generalized anxiety, social anxiety, specific phobia, panic disorder, etc. She primarily uses motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and exposure and response prevention in her work. Dr. Sconyers provides individualized sessions with adults and children ages 12 and up, but considers caregiver involvement an essential component of child-related services.


Education

Dr. Sconyers earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Truman State University. She then earned her Master of Education Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Career Psychology from the University of Missouri. Dr. Sconyers went on to earn her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a Multicultural Psychology minor from the University of Missouri. She completed her postdoctoral residency at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute and has worked at a behavioral health center, juvenile detention center, law firm, and counseling center leading up to the launch of Inspired Consulting & Psychological Services.


Being Intentional

Dr. Sconyers strategically intends to encourage and inspire people and organizations to want better and do better for themselves and the people around them. She presents information and poses questions in a way that is engaging and digestible. Dr. Sconyers is a skilled professional who also sees herself as a learner who hopes to never stop growing.


Client Fit Is Key

Dr. Sconyers recognizes that fit is extremely important in deciding upon a consultant or psychologist and she acknowledges that one size does not fit all. She is someone who has championed diversity and inclusion as well as mental wellness for many years. Further, she intentionally took courses and gained experiences that have positioned her to be a knowledgeable person and professional in these areas.
